EDUCATIONAL/TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
i) A pass in SSLC or its equivalent and
ii) Certificate in Library Information Science from a recognized University. Possessing higher educational qualification without passing the (Minimum Xstd) required qualification will not be considered.
AGE LIMIT: Between 18 and 32 years as on 25-8-2010 (Should have completed 18 years of age and should not have completed 32 years of age as on 25-8-2010 (Age limit is relaxable for OBC/MBC/SC/XSM/MSP candidates and Government servants who are already in service in accordance with the instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time.)
REGISTRATION WITH EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGE: The candidate is required to have necessarily registered lively with the Employment Exchange in the
Union Territory of Puducherry.
RESIDENCE/NATIVITY: The candidates who are the natives of the Union Territory of Puducherry or who have continuous residence in the Union Territory of
Puducherry for the last 5 years immediately preceding the date of notifications only are eligible to apply for the post. They should produce the required certificate issued by an officer of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar. In case of candidates whose parents/spouse is employed in the Government of Puducherry, a service certificate from the Head of Department/Office should be produced for the purpose of Nativity or residence.
CASTE CERTIFICATE for SC/OBC/MBC issued by an officer of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar on or after 25-8-2009 in the prescribed form alone will be accepted. Application with old certificate or combined certificate will not be considered against reserved vacancies.
METHOD OF SELECTION: i)The candidates who are found eligible in all respects as per the eligibility conditions mentioned above only will be called for a written test followed by practical test. The total 100 marks will be apportioned as :
a) Academic and professional qualifications – 40 %;
b) Competitive written examination – 40 %;
c)Weightage for employment registration - 10%; (A maximum of 10 marks will be awarded for seniority in the employment Exchange at the rate of one mark for each completed year of seniority in the Employment Exchange, subject to a maximum of 10 marks)
d) Practical test (Library Science)10%.
ii) The competitive written examination will consist of a single paper of 3 hours duration for 100 marks which will be reduced to a maximum of 40 marks for calculating the aggregate percentage in the recruitment process. The question paper will be in objective type with multiple choice questions. The allotment of marks will be as follows: Current affairs and general knowledge – 50 marks; General English & Mathematics 50 marks. The question paper will be in English, Tamil, Malayalam & Telugu.
The candidate seeking admission to the examination should send the duly filled in application and admission card in the prescribed format given below along with the following copies of the certificates duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
(i) Certificate showing the educational /Technical Educational qualifications
(ii) Birth Certificate
(iii) Residence/Nativity Certificate issued within one year prior to 25-8-2010.
(iv) SC/OBC/MBC certificate issued on or after 25-8-2009.
(v) Live Registration with Employment Exchange of U.T. of Puducherry.
(vi) Category Certificate for XSM/MSP issued by competent authority.
The candidates have to produce all their original certificates separately when called for verification Qualification obtained on or after 25-8-2010 shall not be considered.
No original certificate should be sent along with the application. Such of those applicants who are already in service should send their applications through proper channel well in advance so as to reach before the prescribed date and time.
Applications may be obtained from the Department of Art & Culture, No. 1, Goubert Avenue, Puducherry 605 001, and also can be downloaded from the Website htt://www.pon.nic.in.
All the prospective candidates are advised to submit separate application to the Department even though their names have been sponsored by Employment Exchange, as this Department requires various data regarding academic/technical qualifications during the recruitment process.
The filled in application along with filled in admission card should reach the Director, Art & Culture Department, No.1. Goubert Avenue, Puducherry 605 001, on or before 5.00 PM on 25-8-2010 (subject to change). The envelop containing the filled in application must be superscribed in bold letters as “APPLICATION FOR RECRUITMENT OF LIBRARY CLERK 2010” on the top left side corner.
The Director, Art & Culture Department, Puducherry reserves right to enhance/reduce the number of posts and also to cancel the recruitment process. The
decision of the Government as to the eligibility or otherwise of a candidate for admission to the examination shall be final. No interim enquiries will be entertained.
